Located along one of the main thoroughfares of Bangkok, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University is one of the largest government hospitals in Thailand.
Comprising several buildings, the hospital receives thousands of out-patient visitors each day. Many of them, along with high numbers of hospital staff, need to move from one building to another. To do this, they use an overhead connecting walkway which is also open to the general public.
In line with the corporate drive to provide the best standards of service, the decision was made to upgrade the walkway areas and install a high quality floor finish that would also take wheeled traffic. Based on the results of the prior installation at the Hospital Basement car park areas, Flowcrete's Deckshield was selected.
The fully trafficable polyurethane resin system is UV stable and watertight, helping to prevent water ingress and subsequent long-term damage to the structure of the building. It is the only system of its kind in the market to carry the Singapore Green Label in the Environmentally friendly/low VOC paints category.
The solvent-free system bridges thermal movement and offers superior slip resistance for foot passengers and wheeled vehicles. The light-reflective surface also brightens up dull environments, helping to reduce energy consumption. One of the fastest systems of its kind to install, the entire 2,000m2 installation was completed within a very tight timescale of just three weeks from date of order to completion.
