Located on the most expensive piece of real estate in Hong Kong, the new Central Government Offices at the Tamar Development on the Harbour Front required nothing less than the very best in building finishes, right through to the car park facilities.
Extensive use of Flowcrete's Deckshield high performance car park deck coating at prestigious projects throughout Hong Kong provided ample references for the system to be specified for the new development.
Due to the waterfront location, the concrete slab was found to contain excessive levels of moisture. A MiraDRAIN system, commonly used in Asia to reduce hydrostatic pressure build-up in the slab, had been installed but after testing, it was discovered that the moisture content was still high. Flowcrete recommended the use of its Deckshield EP primer, a solvent-free, resin primer/damp proof membrane that can be used for new concrete or screed with up to 98 percent RH. It is installed prior to application of the final deck coating, in this case Deckshield ID, a fully trafficable, watertight polyurethane resin system that carries the Singapore Green Label in the Environmentally Friendly/Low VOC Paint category.
The hard-wearing Deckshield ID offers dynamic crack-bridging properties and superior slip resistance. An upmarket, contemporary look is achieved thanks to the seamless finish and light-reflective properties, enhancing car park ambience and visitor experience, while reducing energy consumption. A total of 24,000m2 was installed at the multi-level car park which includes special charging stations for hybrid vehicles.
