A major refurbishment project has been underway at the former Stadium Australia in Sydney, including 20,000 sq metres of new flooring to the concourse area from Flowcrete Australia...
The main concourse area around the stadium, originally laid with concrete that had degraded badly, received a complete face lift with Flowcrete’s Deckshield with UV topcoat.
The stadium, used as the principal venue for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, and now known as the Telstra Stadium, has undergone a revamp that involves a reduction in the seating capacity from 110,000 to 80,000 spectators.This has been achieved by removing the stands at the North and South ends of the stadium.
Deckshield’s flexibility, waterproof properties and UV resistant topcoat made it the only flooring system available in the market that could meet all the criteria. An anti-slip surface, and ease of cleaning and maintenance were two other key requirements where Deckshield was able to score high marks.
A further characteristic of Deckshield is the ability to incorporate decorative elements and for the Telstra project, the client’s logo was featured within the concourse flooring.
